Mountain Lion and Levi

Levi has discovered the mountain lion in Gene's den... the cat is bigger than he is, has bigger teeth than he has, and if it were alive, he wouldn't be.  But no worry, Levi is a terrier and thinks he can take on this creature.  So he runs up to it, growls, sniffs the necessary parts, and growls, and acts like a terrier after his prey.  We just stand and laugh.  Seems strange that after all the years that animal has been stuffed, it would still be interesting to a dog.  Must be some sort of connection somewhere in Levi's brain that brings on this attitude.  

We've been having nice weather lately, a little snow that is melted (our 3,000 gal tank is now up to 80% full, from 40% a couple weeks ago, all from melted snow) and mostly sunny days. Nice enough to make one think of planting..perhaps in a greenhouse. Last Sunday, we visited a new friend who lives up north of us on about 20 acres. She has a greenhouse and we came home with fresh tomatoes and a basil plant also.  Yummy... the car smelled of basil which, to me, smells like summer. Can't wait to get our greenhouse built...tentative date is March 22nd.  Gene is building a cloche for my herb garden so one of these days I will plant lettuce in there which should survive the cold... at least it's worth a try. Herbs won't go in it till at least May. 

My turn for hosting Girl's Night Out was this past Tuesday and it was FUN! It's good to get together with the neighborhood gals (from ages 7 to 70+) and eat and drink and yak.  Lots of everything. Gene gave me a great present afterward....he cleaned up the kitchen and washed all the dishes....and I had used real dishes...not paper plates.  What a guy!  Probably shouldn't tell the neighbor women though... their husbands might think Gene is setting a bad example for them!!
