It's Our Anniversary

Well, it's been one year since we three moved into our house here in Ojitos Frios ranches. In some ways it seems like we've been here longer and in others, like we just moved in.  What a year! Lots of adventures and they continue. From losing our well water to building a greenhouse to meeting lots of interesting people and seeing lots of gorgeous scenery. And we can't forget all the company we've had....friends from Seattle, Issaquah, Minneapolis, Mankato, New Ulm, Wisconsin, North Dakota and Alabama just to mention a few.

The winter was snowier than normal, colder than normal and longer than normal.....the summer is starting out to be hotter than normal..... but we can't say we're bored!

Gene is busy transforming this property - he loves the greenhouse and all the land he has to plant and till and hopefully, harvest. I have a small garden of my own - 20 x 15 - and it's starting to look like I might win the battle of the weeds....if I stay at it every other day or so. Have tomatoes, peonies, asters, African Daisies, a rose bush, beans, zinnias, tarragon, sage, basil, and a few other herbs, and portulaca. We put up rabbitt fencing around the garden and I even have a custom made garden gate.

Gene is busy with the El Creston Mutual Domestic Water Users Association - he's on the board of directors and they are working on getting grants and help to build a water system in this area. Lots of dry wells and people using water catchment now. I started working at the Presbyterian church here in LV in April, part time, and am enjoying it. We still ahve time to sit on the porch and enjoy the evening breezes.

Looking forward to more adevntures...hopefully good ones. But we learn from them all and are managing to find enjoyment here. Levi loves it...but them he's happy if we're around.

Happy Anniversary to Us!!
