Bricks and Stuff

The UPS guy arrived...bread machine was unpacked...tried a quick cycle bread recipe....made a brick. What a disappointment. See my bread baking blog for more details - http://backtobasicsbread.blogspot.com   let's just say we're hoping the bread today will turn out more like bread.....using a bread machine bread mix to see if that works...I'm sure that it will be better than the first try!!

Gene is all packed, except for a few things, to leave in the morning for Minnesota and the Pope & Young convention. P&Y is the premier bowhunters organization. He used to be a member (well, I guess he's a lifetime member) and the convention is being held in Rochester so he's going to drive "home" and see all his buddies and the P&Y Museum plus visit relatives. Me? I'm staying home with the "kids".  It'll be quiet around here without him and I'm going to have to take care of the greenhouse while he's out playing...it's good for him to get away from here for awhile and get to see his old buddies.....some older than others!!

Weather has turned warm and sunny...just beautiful with the exception of no rain but that's normal. Windy again but at least the wind is warm. Thinking I need to head to the store and get a couple of chaise lounges for the deck/back yard.....gotta work on my Vitamin D rations.

We had surprise visitors today from Seattle. Dave and Ellie stopped in on their way from Arizona to Colorado..it was so good to see them but they only stayed an hour or so. Sure miss our fun times with them. We were in a small study group together for years and traveled overseas on choir tours with them also. Every summer we'd have a pool party at their house and celebrate the Seattle summer!!!  Too short a visit but at least they stopped in. Of course the house was not clean and neat but oh well....my saying is "If you've come to see us, come on in. If you've come to see the house, make and appointment"!!!

Off to work on Heart's quilt!

  1. I wondered where Dave was on Thursday! We had just returned from Chicago and were pretty out of it. Turns out David shared a nasty bug with us, so we didn't sing today. Heard about the flu-trip. It's been a tough winter, and we are READY for some sun. (The only nice weather was while we were gone, and in Chicago the week before we got there. Go figure.) Hugs!
