Linda, Gene, Patty, Paul - Alaska Cruise 2004
One more time -
do not listen to your GPS when you come to see us...and get directions from Linda, not Gene. Gene's cousin Patty and her husband Paul arrived today from Minneapolis (via Las Vegas NV) and Gene had to go and pick them up from the San Miguel County Detention Center. Yup, they drove themselves right past our driveway (3 times) and then back north up Mira Sol, continuing north and then thru the hills until they got to "civilization" and the county jail. Neither of their cell phones worked so they stopped there and Paul made Patty go in and ask to use a phone there. So she did...told the cops their predicament and found out that even the cops have trouble finding addresses on Mira Sol Drive. Said they had to come out and serve papers on a guy and could not find the house. Yup, it's the WILD WEST out here. Anyway, Pat was allowed to use the phone and called Gene who told them to be patient and he'd come rescue them - (and if I know Gene he told them he'd get there "as soon" as he could). (I was in town all this time at the grocery store and quilt shop and church so knew nothing). By the time I got home they were all safe and sound at our house and had made good friends with the cops. So that is why we say, don't listen to the GPS and follow Linda's directions.
Have had a fun day...ate lunch at Charlie's, did some shopping at War Dancer Gallery and then came home. Patty took a nap while the rest of us yakked and it is now after supper and Gene and Patty are reviewing their family history!! Something about gangsters in their old hometown of Mankato MN. Paul is reading...I'm posting.
Tomorrow Gene is taking them to Pecos Pueblo and Santa Fe and I am staying home to study and then go to choir. Thursday we will head north and go to Fort Union and over to the alpaca ranch and who knows where else. Maybe check out some of the buffalo on Ted Turner's ranch. P2 leave on Friday for Phoenix to check out their house there and meet their renters and then have to go back to MN on Sunday night.
Oh my, we can relate. They must have been looking the other way like we did when we missed the turn! It is comforting to know that had we not turned around we would have come to civilization. Hard to believe though! How's the bread class comin'?
