Summer is Winding Down

It's still warm in the days but the nights are cooling off....and more rain has fallen....and the pumpkins are getting bigger every day....corn looks just ok...we'll see....lots of squash including a zucchini that is taking over the greenhouse. I'm leaving it there until Gene comes home so he can see it. Gene has been gone since July 29th and is due home tonight. He drove to Seattle and has spent the better part of the last three weeks working on our house up there so we can put it on the market. Won't be able to sell it for what we could have 2-3 years ago but will make some money on it and pay off our mortgage. Praying for a quick and good sale. He and Ted worked on the deck, the garage, floors, etc etc. Our renters agreed to stay until the house is sold which was really great news. While Gene was gone, our boiler decided to give up and so I've not had hot water for almost 3 weeks. Thankfully the kitchen range is electric so i could heat water for dishes and my hair and sponge baths. It will need replacing and that'll take a few $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. There is always something to take care of. But at least we'll have a new system that will last for 15-20 years..... Our vacation to Minnesota is coming up the end of September....looking forward to going "home" for a few days and seeing the relatives and friends. Gene's 50th class reunion is the reason for our trip but we will also head north and go to Tower and visit and see folks. Were hoping to get up to Rainy Lake for some fishing but that may not happen. It'll be nice to head north in the fall.... Levi and Reily are doing great....Reily is all grown up now and she's a beauty. We got the letter from CCI this past week telling us that she's to graduate to Professional Training on Friday, Feb 17, 2012. We'll drive to California to take her there along with Michael and Judy and Ojai. Losing both girls on the same day is going to be sad...but we've known all along that it's what the plan is. Won't make it easier, but we'll get thru. It's thundering again and black clouds are threatening to dump more rain...I hope so. Our tanks are all filled and when Gene gets home he'll hook up the 3rd 3,000 gallon tank and we'll have enough water for quite awhile. It's amazing how much water people waste....you really don't need to use as much water as you think.....trying to conserve...but I will admit it'll be nice to stay in a motel or two along the way and let the water run in the shower for more than a few mintues!!
